In June of 2009, I made my first fully decorated 3D type of cake. Actually, aside from the traditional 1 round cake and some frosting, I had not attempted to make any other type of cake. Why? I'm not sure, but from the moment I started playing with the idea of decorating a cake, I knew I was hooked.

I've been going at it ever since. There has been a lot of trial and error and more research that most humans will ever do in their lives. (I'm really, really, really fanatical about details.) If a cake goes out of my house, looking like....well, a cake, then I'm not happy. How does one might go about making sure that a cake doesn't look like a cake........hours and hours and hours of research. I have never taken a cake decorating class. Have never worked at a bakery. Have not been to culinary school of any sort. I am not an artist or any sort. I just bake and design. I am completely happy, sitting at the table for 8 hours, working on the most intricate of designs. For some reason, cake decorating calms me and puts me in my happy place.
